One Road From Our Door to the Township Line

Our shop is at 21366 Hall Rd in Clinton Township, and Hall Rd, called the William P. Rosso Hwy east of Gratiot, runs straight to I-94 exit 240 on the Chesterfield-Harrison township line. That puts a Chesterfield job about 15 minutes from our Clinton Township shop with no travel fee, and our trucks cross the township on the way to the shore and on to New Baltimore. Anchor Bay, the northern arm of Lake St. Clair, forms the entire southeast edge of the township, and nearly everything about exterior cleaning here follows from that.

The housing splits at 23 Mile Rd. South of it, and along Jefferson Ave on the bay, the shore plats of Anchor Bay Gardens, Anchor Bay Harbor, Anchor Bay Shores and Chesterfield Shores hold cottage-era and 1940s-60s ranches, vinyl- or aluminum-sided with wood trim, on narrow shore and canal lots behind seawalls. North of 23 Mile, former farmland filled with 1990s-2000s subdivisions of brick-front and vinyl two-stories and ranches; the township counted 45,376 people at the 2020 census. The newest infill and condominium builds of the 2010s and 2020s run to vinyl with brick and cultured-stone accents.

Bay air is the mechanism behind most of our calls here. Humidity, heavier dew and morning fog keep siding wet for more hours a day than an inland street sees, and algae grows only while a wall is wet, so bay-side and north walls on vinyl green up on a shorter cycle. East winds carry spray onto Jefferson Ave homes, and the June fish-fly hatch coats bay-side siding within weeks. Inland, the flat former farmland drains slowly, and the subdivisions that border I-94, Gratiot Ave and 23 Mile pick up a road-salt film every winter that shows as a gray haze on light siding by March.

Each of the eight services below has its own Chesterfield page, because the shore plats and the farmland subdivisions ask for different work: gentle chemistry on aluminum and wood trim by the water, fish-fly cleanup after the hatch, gutter clearing under the older trees south of 23 Mile, and sealed concrete up north before the next salt winter. Streets in Lottivue, Point Lakeview and Sebille Manor, and around Milton at Gratiot Ave, get the same crews and the same published rates. Cottages on the Bay, Two-Stories on the Old Farmland

The shore plats along Jefferson Ave are the township's oldest exteriors and its wettest. Aluminum from a mid-century re-side chalks in bay air, wood trim and fascia hold moisture from the fog, and on a canal lot the seawall and the lower wall take wake splash all season. We wash these with a mild mix and rinse-level pressure, and direct the runoff toward the lawn instead of the seawall edge. Fish-fly residue after the June hatch is a job of its own on the bay side.

North of 23 Mile, the 1990s-2000s streets, and the newer subdivisions off Sugarbush Rd and Cotton Rd, are the opposite problem: young vinyl, brick fronts, long poured driveways and planted trees still filling in, so there is little shade but plenty of open exposure to dew. The first green film shows on the north wall about a decade in, and the concrete is still sound enough to be worth sealing. Many of these plats carry an association, and our dated before-and-after photos close a maintenance notice.

The 2010s and 2020s infill and condominium builds are the youngest of all, vinyl with brick and cultured-stone accents on standard lots. Cultured stone is a cast concrete product, so it is porous, takes stains from sprinkler overspray and mulch splash, and cannot take pressure; it gets a low-pressure rinse from the top down. Families in the Anchor Bay School District and L'Anse Creuse Public Schools make up most of the calendar, with the New Haven Community Schools slice up north on the same routes.
