From a Borrowed Pressure Washer to Macomb County's Premier Exterior Cleaning Team
This company wasn't built in a boardroom. It was built in a driveway, right here in Michigan — fueled by ambition and a flat refusal to settle.
Two Students, One Ford Escape, Zero Excuses
In June 2022, Landen Glefke was fresh out of high school and Justin Dillard was still a junior. They didn't have investors, a fleet of trucks, or a marketing budget. What they had was a vision — and Landen's mom's small residential power washer. (Thanks, Mom.)
Loaded into a Ford Escape, that little machine washed its way through neighborhood after neighborhood. Justin and Landen personally completed more than 350 jobs in those first years, working nights and weekends, building a reputation one house at a time.
Those early days were a crash course in resilience: equipment breakdowns, Michigan's famously uncooperative weather, and every lesson the trade could throw at two teenagers determined to out-work everyone. What stuck wasn't just technique. It was a conviction that customer service isn't about cleaning a surface — it's about showing up on time, treating people with respect, and standing behind the work no matter what.
The Decision That Changed Everything
Somewhere around job three hundred, a realization landed: being "guys with pressure washers" wasn't the goal. Being industry leaders was.
So they went to school on the trade itself. Countless hours networking with established operators and cleaning veterans across the country. Advanced training in cleaning systems, safety protocols, and efficiency standards that most local competitors have never heard of, let alone mastered. They studied the chemistry behind soft washing — the low-pressure method that safely cleans roofs and siding where raw pressure would destroy them — and made major investments in industrial-grade, truck-mounted hot-water systems built for the biggest commercial projects in Southeast Michigan.
That education transformed MPWS from a two-man startup into a professional operation with processes, standards, and equipment that rival companies ten times its age.
Where We Are Now
Today, MPWS is a long way from the Ford Escape. Our crews maintain commercial properties for national brands — The Home Depot, Enterprise, AT&T, Staybridge Suites — alongside schools, municipal buildings, and hundreds of homes across Macomb County and the Grosse Pointes.
What hasn't changed is the standard. Whether we're restoring a family's stamped-concrete patio or degreasing the pad behind a busy restaurant, every technician brings the same perfectionism that got two kids through 350 driveways. We bridge the gap between local hustle and professional expertise — and we like it that way.
We Pay Our People Like the Job Matters
This trade has a turnover problem, and it isn't a mystery why. Plenty of companies treat exterior cleaning as seasonal labor — hire cheap in April, run people hard, let them go in November, start over next spring. The customer pays for that in a different crew every visit, none of whom have any reason to care about the standard.
We went the other direction. Our technicians earn well above what this industry typically pays, with real benefits behind it — because someone who can build a life on this work sticks around long enough to get genuinely good at it. That's also why we carry full workers' compensation on every technician rather than treating crews as contractors: if someone gets hurt on your property, that is our responsibility to carry, not yours.
You feel the difference as a customer in the least dramatic way possible. The person who washed your house last spring is the same person who shows up this spring, already knows which downspout backs up, and doesn't need to be told twice about the flower bed.
Where Our Money Goes When the Trucks Are Parked
We grew up here. Landen and Justin went to school in this county, and the first three hundred driveways we ever washed belonged to people who live within a few miles of where we still park the trailer.
So a share of what this company earns goes back into local schools and charities across Macomb County — athletic programs, classroom fundraisers, and community organizations doing work that matters here. We don't publicize the individual amounts, and we're not interested in a plaque. It's simply what you do when a community spends three years handing your business to their neighbors.
We're Usually Looking for Good People
If you've read this far and the way we run this company sounds like somewhere you'd want to work, we'd genuinely like to hear from you. No experience required — we train the trade. Show up, care about the work, and we'll handle the rest.
