What fills a trough here depends on which part of town you are standing in. On the old streets below M-29 the trees have reached full height, and they drop twice: a heavy seed and blossom load in late spring, then the leaves through October. Twice a year suits most homes here: once after the late-spring seed and blossom drop, and once in November when the trees along the historic downtown streets have finished. Lots with several mature trees overhead earn a third visit. The November pass is the one to keep, because a trough cleared before the first hard freeze cannot hold the ice that lifts shingle edges and pulls hangers loose.
